It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas… at Damar!
Ever wondered what it’s like to spend the holidays at Damar?
For many people, Christmas morning is one of the most anticipated events of the year. With children finding special gifts under the tree and family gathered all around, the day can have a magical feel.
For as many as 100 Damar children who find themselves waking up on Damar’s campus or in group homes on Christmas morning, the day is special. While it may not fit the “traditional” mold, the day is still very special to our clients. Gifts are opened, special meals are shared and the day is dedicated to fun.
Helping us in this effort is St. Roch Catholic Church, which for more than 20 years has ensured every child or adult at Damar receives a gift. Meanwhile, Damar’s dietary group prepares a Christmas meal with all the trimmings which clients and staff enjoy together.
In addition, the many events leading up to Christmas day ensure the sights and sounds of the season are alive at Damar. Between Elf shopping and wrapping, our Elvis concert, and the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (CYO) party and sing-a-long (pictured above), our Damar family is well cared for.
