Qualified Charitable Distributions

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers, are the savviest way for individuals age 70½ or older to use their IRAs to maximize their charitable impact.

If you are over the age of 70½, you may give a gift from your IRA as a tax-free distribution to a qualified charity. This means an amount (up to $100,000 annually), transferred from your IRA directly to a charity like Damar, can count toward your required minimum distribution without being considered taxable income. This deduction can also lower your adjusted gross income (AGI). The distribution is authorized by Section 408(d)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code.

As a qualified charitable IRA rollover, the gift must be transferred from a traditional IRA directly to a qualified public charity, like Damar, and must be completed during the applicable tax year.

Damar must receive your gift by December 31 for your IRA charitable distribution to qualify for that tax year. You can make your QCD gift quick and hassle-free by completing and signing the PDF form below, and forwarding it to your IRA financial representative. You can also choose to print out a blank form to complete by hand or transact the gift over the phone with your financial custodian. Whatever you choose, we are always here and happy to help with any questions you may have.
