Residential Campus Services
Most of the children and youth who are referred to Damar’s residential campus have experienced multiple previously failed placements and Damar is often their best chance — and last hope — for success.
Residential placement is never the permanent plan for these youth, and our goal is to help them develop the skills they need to achieve success and quickly return to their own communities.
Children come to Damar requiring different levels of care and safety — ranging from high levels of supervision and treatment to less intensive support. Damar provides a full spectrum of innovative and individualized residential services.
The same team of skillful and dedicated Damar employees supports each child’s transition from more structured and secure settings to open campus living and from open campus living to a family setting or independent living in the community.

Many have a history of co-occurring mental health challenges, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, sexual reactivity and attachment disorders.
Damar’s Young Boys Services works diligently to identify foster or adoptive homes for those children who do not have traditional family resources, underscoring our ultimate goal of helping boys return to a family home setting.

Girls Services
“Cultivating healthy growth in young women by providing skills and opportunities to create a healthy future.”
Girls with developmental disabilities are referred to our campus for treatment designed to meet their specific needs based on best practice models.
Many of these girls have a history of emotional, physical or sexual abuse, and most have co-occurring mental health problems including low self esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder, or body image, eating or conduct disorders. Other girls may be referred due to the severity of developmental delay and related problems with communication and socialization.
“The Great Eight” Core Values for Girls By focusing on relationship building and values that promote positive character, our girls experience measurable improvements toward the achievement of their individual goals as well as reduced self-injurious behavior and aggressive behavior toward others.
This approach also markedly improves relationships with family and friends, solidifying Damar’s mission for Girls Services: Cultivating healthy growth in young women by providing skills and opportunities to create a healthy future.
