Outpatient Mental Health Services

The outpatient clinic continues Damar’s mission to build better futures for children and adults facing life’s greatest developmental and behavioral challenges. The outpatient clinic consists of behavior management services and mental health counseling. Damar’s clinical department includes psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and behaviorists. The outpatient clinic utilizes empirically validated treatment with the goal of helping individuals fully realize their potential.

Mental Health Counseling

Mental health problems occur at a higher rate in individuals with intellectual challenges. These problems often occur in ways that are different than what is typically seen in the general population. The outpatient clinic provides a full range of specialized mental health counseling to serve individuals diagnosed with intellectual challenges; however, traditional mental health services are also provided. Our highly qualified clinicians have the training, expertise, and sensitivity to help children, adults, families, and groups work through many issues including behavioral self-control, interpersonal problems, depression, anxiety, and other difficulties. Effective treatment and interventions for maladaptive sexual behavior in youths are available through a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician (CSAYC). All forms of Medicaid, various private insurance, and private pay are accepted.

Behavior Management Services

Damar provides positive behavior supports to individuals who are at risk for community disruption. To ensure each person’s needs are fully met, Damar uses a multidisciplinary team approach. We work closely with families, schools, workplaces, medical providers, case managers, and other community organizations to develop and implement comprehensive, culturally sensitive, and environmentally specific plans. Ongoing measurements are critical to achieve real progress in the lives of those we serve. Goals and objectives are evaluated regularly, and continual adjustments are made to build on accomplishments. Medicaid waivers, state line item, CHOICE funding, and private pay are accepted.

Outpatient Autism Services

Damar is able to provide a full range of specialized clinical services through professionals specifically trained in the unique therapeutic needs of individuals with autism. Damar provides diagnostic assessments utilizing a battery of widely recognized evaluation instruments, direct observations of behavior, detailed histories, and clinical interviews. All assessments are completed by experienced diagnostic clinicians under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. Working cooperatively with families, schools, case managers, medical practitioners, and other community providers, we develop and implement comprehensive and culturally sensitive plans that encourage positive growth in the context of the client’s special needs. These services may be offered home based within a 30 mile radius of the outpatient clinic, pending authorization from participating insurance providers. All forms of Medicaid, various private insurance, and private pay are accepted.
