Wednesday - May 07, 2008Damar benefits from IUPUI Pack the House ChallengeAs part of their victory in the NCAA Division I ‘Pack the House’ Challenge, the IUPUI Department of Athletics has chosen Damar Services as the recipient of a $500 donation from the NCAA. Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs John Rasmussen made the presentation at a ceremony at Damar’s headquarters on the southwest side of Indianapolis earlier today.
"The IUPUI Department of Athletics is pleased to recognize Damar Services and their goal of imagining the potential for children and adults who face developmental and behavioral challenges," Rasmussen said. "I am thankful our fans came out to The Jungle and supported our initiative with the Pack the House game so Damar Services could benefit from this NCAA sponsored promotion. We are proud to be partners with just one of the many great charitable organizations in Indianapolis." IUPUI was one of 32 winners chosen by the NCAA in the first-year national effort to build attendance at women’s basketball games through conference-wide competition. Selections were based on creativity of marketing plans and attendance criteria. DAMAR serves several hundred children and adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges throughout Indiana. Their research-based treatments and support services have been recognized regionally for their success – 96 percent of those in their residential program go on to a higher degree of independence. |
