Where is Damar located?

Damar's residential campus, which includes Damar Academy, is located on the southwest side of Indianapolis. However, we also offer group, transitional and supported living and community-based services in sites throughout central Indiana, Elkhart and Lafayette.

Jobs are added to our Web site as they become available and removed once a position has been filled.

How do I apply for an open position?

First, visit the Damar Career Center to explore our rewarding career opportunities. Then Click “Apply Now” to begin the online application. Please make sure you allow approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete the online application process.

Applications are prioritized in accordance with current openings. We will contact you if there is a potential match. Applications will remain active for 60 days.

Do I need to reapply to be considered for future openings?

Applications will remain active for 60 days and are considered for qualifying positions during that time. After 60 days, a new application should be submitted for consideration.

Why do I need a valid Indiana Driver's License?

Employees are often responsible for transporting clients to and from appointments, home visits and other outings, which makes driving an essential function for many positions at Damar. Consideration for these positions requires applicants to possess a valid Indiana Driver's License and a driving record that meets Damar's automobile insurance carrier requirements.

What are the minimum qualifications to be considered for a position?

  • Must be 18 years of age for some positions and 21 years of age for others.
  • For Direct Support Technician positions, all applicants must posses a high school diploma or GED certificate. For other positions, please review the job description for educational requirements.
  • Must hold a valid Indiana Driver's License and posses a driving record that meets our automobile insurance carrier requirements for some positions.
  • Must meet the requirements of a pre-employment background check, drug screen and physical.
  • Must have and be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, for some positions.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Do I need experience for Direct Support Technician positions?

If you are offered a position at Damar, we don't expect you to know everything when you walk in the door. Specialized training and career advancements are an integral part of our focus and culture. However, we value quality experience and consider it, among other things, when reviewing your application.

What if I cannot locate my High School Diploma or GED?

If you are hired and your position requires proof of a High School Diploma or GED, the appropriate documentation must be presented on or before your start date. If you are enrolled in an accredited college or university, transcripts are sufficient for this requirement. If you are unable to find it the required documentation, you should begin the process of obtaining a replacement.

Why do I need car insurance?

Some programs require employees to use their personal vehicles to transport clients. In order to drive your personal vehicle on company time, you must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance.

I have a CNA license. Does that improve my chances for employment?

Direct Support Technicians do not require a CNA license, however your CNA experience will be considered.

Why does Damar fingerprint prospective employees?

Some regulating agencies require that employees working directly with the population Damar serves undergo an FBI Criminal History background check via fingerprinting and a Child Protective Services background check. These background checks are mandated by Indiana law and are required for licensure in certain programs in which Damar participates.

What training is available for new employees?

Damar is proud to offer a comprehensive paid orientation and training program for all newly hired team members. This program typically lasts two weeks and is held Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Occasionally, Damar may be able to accommodate those individuals who are students or have other daytime obligations that prevent them from participating in the regularly scheduled training and orientation program. Candidates should inform the Human Resources department in advance if an alternative program schedule is necessary.

Does Damar offer employee benefits?

Yes. Employees who are scheduled 30-40 hours per week may be eligible for Damar's benefits package. Employees scheduled 24-29 hours per week may be eligible for all benefits except Short Term and Long Term Disability. Employees scheduled less than 24 hour per week may be eligible for some benefits excluding any insurance benefits.

When are benefits effective for employees?

Coverage for eligible employees becomes effective on the first day of the month following 90 days of employment (the eligibility date) if they have completed the enrollment process during the enrollment period (the time period that begins 30 days prior to the benefits eligibility date).
