Nicole Y. Woods
Communications Director
Nicole Y. Woods joined DAMAR Services, Inc. as the first communications director in 2007. Charged with raising public awareness of the organization’s unique mission and services, she is responsible for all strategic outreach, visibility and communications initiatives, including public and media relations, and branding of DAMAR’s corporate image.
An Indianapolis native, Ms. Woods came to DAMAR from American United Life/OneAmerica where she was communications project manager. She previously served as spokeswoman for both the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) and the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, of which she also is an alumna. Her career began as a staff writer for The Indianapolis Star, and her byline also has appeared in The Indianapolis Recorder.
A longtime member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Nicole is currently pursuing the Accredited in Public Relations designation. She is also a candidate for the Leadership United program offered through United Way of Central Indiana.
A personal interest in the success and well-being of children transcends not only Nicole’s professional journey, but also her community involvement. She serves as a Girl Scout troop leader and as marketing committee chairwoman on the board of directors for Auntie Mame’s Child Development Center. She is a Key Club member of United Way of Central Indiana and serves as on the advisory board of its Emerging Leaders program for young professionals. Nicole also maintains a life membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
In 2006, Nicole was recognized in Who’s Who in Black Indianapolis. She also has won several marketing communications industry awards of excellence.
Nicole is a graduate of Indiana State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication/public relations.
