President and CEO

Gregory A. Johnson, president and CEO of Damar Services, Inc., has served the organization in various executive and senior staff positions for the past 27 years. Johnson’s entire career has focused on children and adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities.

Johnson began his career in 1973 as a direct care professional at the New Castle State Developmental Center and was promoted to clinical and eventually administrative positions during his tenure. In 1980, he joined Damar as director of programs and services, and in 1983 was named executive director of the organization. Seven years later he was named to the new position of president/CEO for Damar Services, overseeing the innovation and expansion of new programs and services.

Johnson is a past regional chair of the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR), past president of INARF (Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities) and a past vice-president of IARCCA (formerly Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities. He also served as a member of the United Way Impact Council and is a member of the Sertoma Club of West Indianapolis.
