Foster Parent/Family Home LicensingDamar Foster Care Services values foster parents as a vital resource to foster children and their birth families. In accordance with state licensing requirements, the agency offers the Foster, Adoption, and Kinship Care Training (FAKT) 20-hour pre-service training curriculum; First Aid, CPR and Universal Precautions training; and various in-service trainings to residents of Marion County (Indianapolis) and surrounding areas. In order to ensure that you are adequately prepared to meet the challenges of foster parenting, Damar also requires an additional 10 hours of pre-service training before becoming licensed. We feel strongly that this extra training provides valuable information that will result in better foster care outcomes for everyone. The pre-service training curriculum focuses on the following concepts:
