A Personal Note from DAMAR’s President and CEO

A diagnosis of autism generally evokes many emotions, often ranging from confusion to outright despair. Many ask: “What can be done?” “What does this mean?” Many myths and misperceptions about autism, or as it is clinically known—Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), only serve to heighten anxiety.

A great deal of clinical research by professionals is underway. While there presently exists no single cause or known “cure” for ASD, certified professionals at DAMAR—led by Dr. Jim Dalton, a licensed clinical psychologist—have identified validated treatments that confidently support persons with ASD. Over time, these treatments often help individuals with ASD improve their participation and integration into society.

Through our collective professional experience and research, we have assembled this online “Autism Toolbox” for use by professionals, educators, physicians, parents and those individuals who wish to learn more about ASD. As research progresses and treatments improve, updates will be added here. We consider it to be a work in progress, and through our DAMAR Best focus, wish to share treatment information and other data that may be useful. This information does not by any means replace professional consultation or treatment. We know that early intervention, structured education, professional support and training represent critical elements to achieve success with individuals diagnosed with ASD. We welcome professional contributions and comments that will help us improve.

At DAMAR Services, every individual diagnosed with ASD receives treatment that recognizes their uniqueness—and their right to achieve their highest possible potential. We hope that this information will prove useful to you. If you wish to make a comment or professional content contribution, please e-mail us at .

Sincerely,
Greg Johnson
President and CEO
