Director of Community Support Services
Angel Knapp-Reese has dedicated her entire professional career to the human services profession and currently serves Damar Services, Inc. as the director of Community Support Services, an innovative wrap-around treatment model designed specifically for youth at risk of residential placement. In addition to providing strategic direction of the clinical services for youth, Angel supervises home, school and community-based case management and support services for children transitioning from or at risk of needing residential placement. Collaborating with other service agencies, schools and families, she and her staff work diligently to ensure the best possible outcomes for Damar clients. An Indianapolis native, Angel came to Damar in 2005 as transitional services counselor and was promoted in 2006 to counseling supervisor. Instrumental in helping shape Damar's expanding counseling program, she was promoted in 2007 to her current position. Angel was previously with Ball State University where she worked two years as a counselor for GEAR-UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs). Prior to joining Ball State, she worked five years for Children's Bureau of Indianapolis as an adoption specialist for children with special needs and later as program coordinator of the Homes for Black Children adoption initiative. Angel is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and also serves as a practicum supervisor for the Indiana University School of Social Work where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees in social work. She is currently pursuing the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification through the State of Indiana.
