Communications Director
Nicole Y. Woods joined Damar Services, Inc. in 2007 as the organization's first communications director. Charged with raising public awareness of the organization's unique mission and services, she is responsible for all strategic outreach, visibility and communications initiatives, including public and media relations, and branding of Damar's corporate image. An lifelong Indianapolis resident, Nicole was previously with OneAmerica® where she was a communications project manager. While at OneAmerica, she successfully managed numerous marketing campaigns resulting in recognition through several awards for communications excellence. Prior to joining OneAmerica, Nicole was spokeswoman for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration responsible for executing strategic media and community outreach campaigns, management of the agency's communication programs and leadership of public information and Web staff. Nicole's previous positions include: communications officer, Metropolitan School District of Pike Township; staff writer, The Indianapolis Star; and correspondent, The Indianapolis Recorder. A personal interest in the success and well-being of children and the Indianapolis community transcends not only Nicole's professional journey, but also her community involvement. A former Girl Scout leader, she serves as marketing committee chair on the Board of Directors for Auntie Mame's Child Development Center, as an advisory for Indiana State University Magazine. Nicole also maintains a life membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. An active supporter of the United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI), Nicole was previously a member of Key Club and the advisory board of the UWCI Emerging Leaders. She is a 2008 graduate of the UWCI Leadership United Program Ardath Burkhart Governance and Management Series. Nicole holds a bachelor's degree in speech communication/public relations from Indiana State University, and is currently pursuing the Accredited in Public Relations designation though the Public Relations Society of America, of which she is a longtime member. She has twice been designated a Who's Who in Black Indianapolis honoree.
